InAbled Cities Project

Funded by the Erasmus+ programme and coordinated by the European Foundation for Physiotherapy and Physical Activity, the project “InAbled Cities: Developing Inclusive urban environments for physical activity of people with disabilities and senior citizens” is an intersectoral partnership of six organizations from five EU countries. They join efforts to increase the participation of people with disabilities, especially the elder, in health-enhancing physical activities (HEPA) within urban areas. In particular, the overall objective of the project is: to promote and enable physical activities in open urban areas for people with physical disabilities with special focus on elderly people, building healthy, active and inclusive cities. A healthy, active city is one that is continually creating and improving opportunities to enable all its citizens to be physically active in day-to-day live. This includes overcoming the barriers that discourage physical activity (PA) in cities among persons with disabilities, in order to become a healthy, active and disability-inclusive city.
