From the 16th to 21st June 2017, the city of Clermont-Ferrand will host the first edition of the European Schools Badminton Championship. This event is supported by the International School Sport Federation (ISF).
Project “Volunteering in School Sport” (V2S) managed by the ISF with the support of the European Commission (Erasmus+ Sport programme) and enables 24 young volunteers between ages 14 and 16, from 6 European countries, to become youth volunteer European leaders involved in school sport. From January 2017 to March 2018, these young Europeans will pursue a series of workshops and meetings with the aid of facilitators, allowing them to acquire new social and professional skills and to take on responsibilities during sporting events.
As partner in the V2S project the Sport and Citizenship think tank will organise, in collaboration with the regional services of UNSS Clermont-Ferrand (organisers of the Euro Schools Championship Badminton) a conference the 19th June 2017 on the topic “School sport, Volunteering and Skills development” in the presence of several distinguished guests and speakers.
The objective of this conference is to raise awareness among stakeholders of the educational and civic role of school sport, to enhance the commitment and responsibility of young volunteers in sport, to identify skills and competences acquired and to question their recognition by public and private actors.
