Movement and active lifestyles can transform urban life!
Active cities connect people, boost well-being, and shape sustainable urban futures — from walking and cycling to everyday sport.
On 30 September 2025 in Brussels, Sport and Citizenship will host a roundtable on Active Cities as part of the European Week of Sport.
In recent years, the Active Cities vision has gained momentum as a cross-sectoral way to promote physical activity, health, and well-being through urban policy and planning. Built environments shape daily behaviour: when cities make movement easy, accessible, and attractive, everyone benefits.
Our event will showcase good practices, innovative strategies, and European cooperation to help cities become healthier, more inclusive, and more sustainable. Cycling — both as a mode of green transport and a driver of active lifestyles — will be a central theme throughout the discussions.
Speakers from Eurocities, the European Cyclists’ Federation, the European Commission, Decathlon, and Visma, alongside grassroots organisations and municipal networks, will share insights on how different actors can build more active, cycling-friendly cities together.
