“Relais autour du monde”

The French Permanent Representation to the European Union is organizing, with the support of the French Embassy in Belgium, the European Commission, the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council, the Sport & Citizenship think tank and the European Olympic Committees, a race at Parc du Cinquantenaire on Thursday 14 March 2024 from 9am to 10am.

With 134 days to go until the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Games, this event is part of the Relais autour du monde organized by Paris 2024 and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

100 students from the Lycée français Jean Monnet, 80 from the Collège Saint-Vincent-Saint-François and young people from Brussels associations (Sport2Be, Sport dans la ville, Urban Youth Games) will be taking part in the event.

The race will be followed by sporting and civic events in an Olympic village, including stands from the Belgian Presidency, the Commission, the Sport & Citoyenneté think tank and the European Olympic Committees, a Paris 2024 Sport & Fraternité photo exhibition and free practice of sports (badminton, basketball, pétanque, Frisbee, Cornhole, molkky, etc.).

Minister-President of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation Pierre-Yves Jeholet, European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova and France’s Permanent Representative to the European Union Philippe Léglise-Costa are expected to attend and say a few words.
